Personally I would cover them higher. I don't know how many plants you
have or how energetic you fell. Cover them all 6", then if you feel up
to it, cover them a couple more inches. After all, I don't take a tape
measure in the garden, I guess what 6" is. Just take these measurements
as a guideline :)
