Re: feeding peaches

Hello,

It is my understanding that it is best to fertilize at the drip line of
fruit trees.
There are two ways I know of;

	1) Mix fertilzer 50/50 with a soil mix. At
	   drip line of tree using a crowbar make a
	   series of  1-2" holes (6 inches deep)around
	   the trees drip line (1 hole for each 1" of
	   trunk diameter). Fill holes with fertilizer
	   that was mixed with soil.

	2) Use fruit tree fertilzer spikes instead of
	   homemade soil/fertilizer mix.

In regards to the weeping branches it depends on how big a branch it
is.  For a main branch;

	1) Clean it out with a pocket knife. Cutting
	   down to clean new wood. If you see a borer
	   hole, stick something down the hole to kill
	   the borer.

	2) Pour anti-septic mouthwash all over the
	   area you cut and cleaned.

	3) Pour undiluted orchard spray or diazinon
	   all over the area you cut and cleaned.

	4) Seal the area you cut and cleaned with an
	   oil based tar (driveway sealer). Don't
	   go all the way around the branch, just
	   seal the wound.

	5) Wrap wound with tree wrap paper.

	6) Hope for the best, you have done all you
	   can at this point.

For smaller branches, just cut them off as part of pruning. Get
diseased cuttings and all debris away from tree.

Try and find out what the problem is and treat that problem. I took
polaroids of a similar problem, and took them to my local nursery for
advice.

Hope this helps.

Tom
