One more benefit to starting seeds in small potting cells: There is much
less loss of hair roots when being planted out than when seeds are grown in
rows in a flat, or several are started in a large pot. The exception to
this is peat pots; they don't decompose well in all soils and are too tough
for some plants' roots to penetrate. If you have to remove your plants
from the pot to plant out, peat pots will rip roots to shreds.
