i mulch some of my vegetables, the larger ones such as broccoli, tomatoes,
potatoes, etc. i use straw/hay over a red or black plastic mulch. I've
read that the red mulch under the eggplant and tomatoes is supposed to
really increase yields, but i really haven't noticed too much difference.
the mulch keeps the weeds down, for the warmer weather plants, i put the
mulch down once the weather warms. for the cooler vege's, i put it down
when ever..
