Rhubarb?

Would somebody be able to advise me if rhubarb lays
dormant, and if so for how long? I planted a rhubarb crown on new years day
(Summer) and was shooting out new stems like crazy, it was wonderful, but now it
has just stopped. We are into Autumn/winter at the moment, and its doing
nothing. I would appreciate any advise.
