I got this "pest" solution from a "seasoned" mountain gardener.  These Pocono Mt.
Pennsylvanians have about six generations of working with nature, so, I usually try
their methods
first.
I spread clean kitty litter around the perimeter of the garden, mix old, smelly
cologne, perfume, garlic juice with warm water.  Pour the "mixture"  on the
litter.  It will soak into the ground and the litter retains the odor.  I have seen
skunks, squirrels, mole, cats and dogs turn right around and head for the hills.
