Good info. I plan on planting basil between the toms, and marigolds here
and there. I will keep the spray in mind for those nasty bugs. By the way,
has anyone grown a basil called "monstrioso". I did under lights this winter
and the leaves were huge! A bit tougher than regular basil, but big enough
to stuff with meat? cheese? I shouldn't start planning the harvest before I
start the seeds....

hi beth,
i hate to sound like a broken record since i have said this so many
times before but ever since i started planting a basil plant or an
oregano plant between each tomato plant i have never had an insect pest
problem. i also make a strong "tea" of basil, garlic, a dash of dish
soap and water and spray it on the leaves of the tomatoes. i have
convinced my landlady to do the same(our gardens are connected) and she
was strictly a chemical pesticide gardener. try it yourself.
sincerely,
