I'm starting 3 new raised beds for veggies next spring. The beds are
built -- 3' x 8' x 20". The soil is very poor and as I'm on the edge of
rainforest/bush, digging exposes and encourages the amazingly pervasive
roots of sword fern, berries, Oregon grape, nettles <long list>. My plan is
to build up rather than to dig down.
I've gathered mountains of leaves. Is there anything other than mounding
them up and letting nature takes its course that I could do to encourage
decomposition.
Thanks.
