I used a special liquid by Biotal which really did help speed things up.
If the leaves are dry enough and you have access to a shredder it would
help to break them down. Oak and Beech leaves are best, large coarse
leaves like horse chestnut and plane are best avoided or fed through the
general compost in small quantities.
