We are very busy as usual at the change of season as we are
lifting/clearing the summer crops as well as sowing and planting for the
winter and next spring. A wise gardener grows for all the year not just
for the season of plenty as anything fresh from the garden is doubly
welcome. Yes, our ss100's have succumbed, any that look all right have
not got any sweetness. We do have a large area under cover and we shall
be picking Swiss Chard, oriental greens and hopefully lettuce through
the winter. There are also crops like salad carrots and broad beans
which will come next late spring before being cleared to make way for
late summer crops. Not to be forgotten are all the jobs that did not get
done during the summer rush. I can't imagine who is growing crops in
mid-Atlantic, it's a bit too wet and stormy out there for me.
