I can tell you there is no sure method,but I plant two patches each year.One out in the garden,the other,under plastic.The one under plastic(4ft wide,as long as you want,black or red),fix the row,cut hole for plant little,these hardly ever have worms,because in the ground is where the worms come from.Hope this helps
