Asparagus

Susan,

I usually wait til the asparagus ferns have turned yellow entirely and then
cut them down. It never hurts to spread composted manure over the bed after
you've cut the ferns. If that's not available, plain compost will do. I
usually put down 2-4" depending on what's available.

If it's as dry out there as it is here in Philly (where we're 8" behind in
rainfall), it would be a good idea to water the asparagus: 1-2
gal/plant/week or per 2 weeks.
