I used soil blocks for many years, then coffe cups, now it is either
module trays or square pots which fit exactly 15 in a standard seed
tray with no gaps, no weeds in between, no wasted water, even the cheap
commercial pots last many years. Any pots like that are fine as you get
things planted out in time.

I use used plastic 'pony-paks' for all seedlings except for carrots and
radishes. I use the larger ones with the two inch compartments for larger
things such as melons, beans, peas, cukes and corn. And the medium ones with
the one inch + square compartments for smaller seeds such as beets, peppers,
tomatoes. And the really tiny half or 3/4 inch ones with pointed bottoms for
lettuce, spinach, coles, etc. I move the coles up to larger containers and
plant the others directly out. I have been using the same containers for a
few years now. With care they can last along time.
