Ok, I was sneaky. I twisted a conversation around to growing
pumpkins, with my son in law. I finally got him to challenge me
to a pumpkin growing contest. He thinks this was his idea. Ha.
I will not tell him about Duncan's pumpkin page. Hey, he made the
challenge.
Any way, I need to know what do I do with the humongous pumpkins
that I will have next year? I seldom think this far ahead.
These thing are going to be too large to move. (If nothing else, I am
always optimistic)
Do I just let them rot and then till them into the garden soil
next spring? Or do I try to cut them up and distribute them around
the garden and then till them in? Or do I just start a new compost
pile with them as the first and main ingredient?
I am not into composting,( I am ashamed to have to admit this)
however this may make me start. Are they going to be any good
for the soil?
Stan the cheap and lazy gardener.
P.S. I have learned a lot about gourds lately. I am going to
grow a bunch of them next year. Maybe I can devise a gourd
based seed starting pot. Kind of like a peat pot, but a lot
cheaper. Hmmmm, cheap and lazy may have a confrontation here.
