Charlotte,

If you aren't going to utilize the garden anymore, why not plant some fall
rye or oats or some other cover crop so that you don't have to deal with a
ton of weeds when you come back?

If you are going to still use the garden, I'd take everything out except the
Swiss chard (which is pretty winter hardy) and plant fall rye on the rest.
