Re: harvesting my veg.

I'm still harvesting cherry tomatoes and peppers here in Maryland, and the
"fall" lettuce is now slowly being harvested -- three salads so far, and
delicious. Our summer was far too hot for lettuce.

Tomato production was down this year, at least for the larger varieties. It
started Very well, then came the drought and heat wave, followed by cooler
than normal temperatures and heavy rains. Too many extremes and temperature
fluctuations, I guess. Beter Boy did the best, followed by Better Bush. The
Rutgers didn't do well at all this year.

The Kohlrabi is coming along. The seedlings started slowly, then responded
quickly to cooler weather, but the temps went up to nearly 90º again this
week (sigh), so we'll see.

I direct-planted some chard seedlings for the fall. Some of them failed,
again because of too much rain, but I'm still re-seeding and hoping for the
best.

Oh, I have a couple of potato plants going in pots. This is the first time
I've tried this in the fall. I've had great success with container potatoes
in the spring.

Any thoughts on when I should harvest my horseradish?
