While shopping for a kiwi vine for ornamental purposes, I was shown a sweet
potato vine with very similar coloration. The greenhouse help claimed that
the ipomoea was easier to care for and maintain the color, and most of their
customers were happier with the annual.
Now I have this set of questions that somebody here might know about Kiwis.
Can I order ANY male kiwi, like what Guerny's sells for a pollinator, and
expect nice coloration?
If so, do I need to situate it in the sun/shade to maximize this coloration.
I've heard that my Nandina and Barbery need such considerations. Will soil
pH help or hurt? I've got a silly idea I would like a variegated kiwi vine
climbing my red brick chimney outdoors on an East face. And I presume I have
to plant it away form the foundation so I can soak the roots. Anybody else
here ever try anything like this?
Can I plant the sweet potato in a pot and make a winter hanging plant out of
it?
