The only male kiwi that exihibits the interesting coloration is 
Actinidia kolomitka and from my own experience, that coloration can 
be quite variable and is often absent from younger plants.  While 
most of the hardy kiwi are capable of cross pollenation, attention 
must be paid to the particular species, since they bloom at slightly 
different times.
