PJM Rhododendron

While visiting my parents last weekend, about 20 miles west of Chicago, I 
noticed there two PJM rhododendrons had dropped all of there flowers at what 
seemed to be the same time. It looked similar to what a gingko does in the 
fall with its leaves. They had said when we had the snow on Friday the 
branches were weighted down pretty heavily. While driving around it seems as 
though other PJM's were unaffected. Has any one else experienced this?
