Don, I grow over 70 different clematis, some in very difficult locations, but admittedly in rose and clematis country (Oregon). I think the clematis you refer to is ideal for container culture, especially for a greenhouse. It certainly didn't survive my zone 7 winters.
Just make sure you have a big enough pot (deep and wide) and it should be fine. Also, it is a fallacy about the cool roots/hot head -- or at least, it hasn't proven necessary for mer. As long as you give the plant AMPLE water it will be fine. In my experience the first 2-3 years are CRITICAL for watering; after that, just do the best you can at it -- as you would treat any plant. Also, buy the biggest plant you can afford or find, although keeping it in a green house may help a small plant survive more easily than if it were planted out in the garden.
Enjoy. They are wonderful plants.

Does anyone grow clematis in containers? I would like to grow C.
'Florida Sieboldii', for which my Zone 5 is too harsh. Any
particular concerns, other than keeping the roots cool/shaded as for
other clematis? I would plan to use 3 plants in a 15/16 inch (~40
cm) diameter pot.
