The evergreen form of Cornus kousa is C. k. angustata, rated zone 6. I
think the red Kousa you are referring to is C. k. "Heart Throb",
available from Roslyn nursery. They have 12 varieties; Greer gardens
carries 22.
I have never seen Cornus kousa chinensis . . .
Is there a tree in Urbana?
