Dirca palustris is native around here. It is a nice small schrub with
very early flowers, nice but not spectucular. The form and foliage
are nice as well. I have two of these and find them very slow glowing
but dependable. Hard to locate sources for. They are found in wet areas
in the wild, but do not require it.
Parrotia persica 'Pendula'. - I too have read that there are a number of
selections of this, all hard to locate and view. I would like to find a
sizeable one myself. My upright Parrotia persica grows so slowly, that I
have a hard time starting from a 12" pendulous plant. I would like to know
what you find out.
Awhile back I posted to this list a set of dwarf willows that I grow, about
30
overall. 'Moorei' is a nice one. Among others creepers that come to mind,
S. helvetica, S. lantana, S. wolfii, S. serphyllum, S. polaris, S.
herbacea,
S. hylomatica. Yezo-alpina is an easy one to locate and very nice. S.
gillotti
will cover a lot of groung fast once established - not for a trough.
