I think I have grown this plant. It had narrow leaves with a beautiful
golden colour. If that matches what you saw, it is a selection of Spirea
thunbergii. It grew beautifully for a couple of years then was quickly
eliminated. I am in Zone 4b, maybe a touch colder than you. Spirea
thunbergii is not reliably hardy here. -20F will be the absolute minimum for
this species. Anything below that, and there will be considerable damage.

I saw it today at the garden center near my Mom's on Cape Cod. The
tag said hardy to -20F which should be ok here, but wanted to ask
here.
