Forgotten to mention I'm in the lower Missouri River valley which is
nominally zone 5b. My place is a frost pocket which is generally 5-10
degrees F colder than the surrounds so I consider it more like 5A.
A picture of mine after a week and a half of 100F.

Yes and yes. Mine made it through this year's disastrous Easter
weekend freeze when it got down to 150 several nights in a row after
everything had broken dormancy. The Sophora davidii lost some
branches but it has made a full recovery and is quite bushy again
now. My hort friends always zero in on this shrub when they visit my
place; it's color is a particularly attractive shade of dark green.
Highly recommended!

Does anyone grow Sophora davidii? Is it hardy to Z5b as some
sources say?
