Jan,
Your florist's azalea will probably NOT survive outside. There are outdoor
azaleas that are winter hardy in zone 6 (any local nursery will be able to
advise). Your best bet is to treat it as a houseplant. Unless you have a
greenhouse available.
For azalea as a houseplant, beware of dry air and red spider mites. Mist
frequently. Watch for webbing.
