I guess I can't rule that out and unfortunately, the seedlings are a bit
too small (<2ft) to really see if the bark has a striped appearance,
although if you look at the photo below of the parent tree, the bark does
seem striped. I had collected the seeds in an arboretum (Yes, I know, I
sinned) and then took a picture of the tree. You can see this at:

I thought I'd be able to read the tag from the photo, but the resolution
wasn't fine enough, and my mind, being the sieve that it is, couldn't
remember the species name.
