In a message dated 97-11-28 00:01:34 EST, you write:
<< The reason I don't carry it is that it is only marginally hardy. The
bigger it gets, the harder it is to shelter. So I feel that I would be
doing a dis-service to a customer who babies the begger for 6 to 8 years
and then have it freeze to death when it's finally 15-20 feet high.
It's not like digging up a posey and pitching it. It's back breaking
work to dig up a 10 foot rootball.
So, there is my opinion. I wouldn't do it in zone 5.

I too, am interested in Eucalyptus trees. I'm looking for
hardiness at the other end of the spectrum of heat, humidity, and gumbo clay
soil. Okay, so you don't recommend growing them in zome 5. How about zone 8b?
My interest is purely as a means to provide natural nectar for
Hummingbirds, for which the Eucalyptus is supposed to be one. Do you have any
suggestions for growing them for this purpose?
