Right now my mahonia 'Arthur Menzies' is almost in full glory with 
taller than foot long trusses of yellow flowers.  The foliage is 
gorgeous year-round, but I'm lucky to be in zone 8.

Daphne mezereum alba is also almost completely in bloom.  It's 
usually in bloom before the species D. mez., but not this early!
