Please don't stop the TLC. I have seen trees with severely damaged root
balls leaf out and do well until the first major stress event
particulary a hot spell or a droughtk, but severe cold could do it for
tenderer things too. You didn't say what the caliper of the Katsura was.
If it is over 3/4" it may be two years before you are out of the woods.
The tree is fortunate, most people don't know how to care for one in
that situation.
