The Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens have one that's beautiful, and
very old. They're in zone 6. This one is planted in well drained soil and
has no 'knees'. From what I was told, they should be planted in a damp
spot to get the knees. I've got just the spot and I'm going to plant 3 of
them in the Spring.
I also have the Dawn Redwood, which is thriving. The Larches are
everywhere; in fact, I can see a wild stand of them from where I'm sitting.
