I was very excited to see yur webpage, and will look and read everything
there soon.  I was born in Tarrant County, and heard that called "post
oak savannah".  My family moved to California when I was a small child,
and I thereafter always thought of Texas as Heaven.  I am now retired,
and living in a nice oak forest in Northern California.  but I am
starting a garden, and planting a few things which are symbolic to me. 
I will look over your plant list and see what might do well here.  Can
you tell me if your place is also "savannah"?  I am not sure what that
means, but have been trying to read about it.
