i am also a texan by way of california. just wanted to say that the
acanthus is a mighty spreader, but don't let the nurseries talk you
out of 'em. they are lovely and love northern calif. some folks cut
the flower stalks off and toss 'em out as if they were lesser hostas.
this practice is deranged ...
