RE: Viburnums experiences please.

Howdy,

here in lower zone 5, Cincinnati OH, we have 4 Viburnums.

My favorite by far is Viburnum rufidulum (Rusty Blackhaw). Lustrous perfect
green leaves, good red to maroon fall color, and good flowers. If you see
this plant you will have to have one. Even through the worst of our drought
last year this plant looked like it just jumped out of the swimming pool.

We also have Blackhaw Viburnum, a good plant but nothing special, we use it
for naturalizing.

Nannyberry and Arrowwood Viburnum are also good for naturalizing, but
nothing special oranmental wise. Arrowwood flowers stink like 3 day old
road kill on a hot summer day. Very effective for pollinating via the
common house fly. Our Nannyberry's haven't bloomed yet and are not very
large.
