Re: Viburnums experiences please.

All depends on what i want. For an area where a coarse plant would work
and both spring and fall-blooming is appreciated, I really like
V. x rhytidophylloides 'Willowwood'. 'Alleghany' is nice too, but is
less of a clumper and not as floriferous in fall (at least in my experience).

I also really like V. carlesii 'Compactum' for its fragrance, fall color,
and manageable size:

There are some others, but I honestly can't remember their names -- will
have to doublecheck tonight (for some reason V. ichangense sticks out,
as does a variegated form of V. lantana).

But what I really wanted to do was let you know about a new online
resource. This is the product of many years of work between Dr. Gary
Kling (who's also on this list), myself, Mark Zampardo at the College
of Lake County, and a couple of other people. It has over 800 woody
plant species and cultivars with nearly 8000 color photographs and
text descriptions:

You need to have Javascript enabled on your browser to navigate through
the site, and the images look better if you click on them.

I've been hesitating to announce this because I wanted to put some serious
time into the interface beforehand. So think of yourselves as Beta
testers, and don't share the URL with non-listmembers just yet, please. :)
