Hi Don,
When I had my nursery I carried
Aristolochia baetica
Aristolochia clematitis
Aristolochia contorta
A. baetica was supposed to be hardy to zone 5, but since all 32 of mine
died over the winter and its native range is across Spain and Algeria
I'm a little dubious.
A. clematitis is comparitively small to A. durior, and A. contorta
is about the same size.
They're all pretty boring unless you're going to be right on them
studying the flowers, although they make great screening plants.
In my experience, they're all pretty aggressive too, growing through
the pots and re-rooting where the stems touch the ground.
I'd rather grow Clematis like 'Mrs. Robert Brydon' if I'm going
to have something spreading and scrambling...
Chris
