This!

I planted Akebia x pentaphylla on the side of my deck between the 
spa and the eating area, and it's great!  The plant can easily extend
20-30' out, but will only spread as long as there's support.  Once
there's no support, it just fills in.  They need some initial guidance
when growing, but are pretty trouble-free.

It is semi-evergreen, hardy, no maintenance, doesn't draw bugs,
and is open enough that some air and light get through.  I would
plant this again in a heartbeat.
