Title: Re: Plants for an arbor - Japanese beetle I only began to notice them last year, but relatively few so far. Guess I’ll just have to keep my eyes open for them. Other than that, don’t have a problem with much of anything during the summer – only when I bring my tropicals inside for the winter (mites and mealybugs, mostly). If I have problems, I may use the systemic imidacloprid, since I would be able to limit the application to this one plant because of the location.

Don, do you have japanese beetle? I'm in Iowa and would assume you have had them longer than I. JB also love Ampelopsis. I took my varigated one out because I had a nice vine only till the first of July when they start their work.
