potentilla fructiosa

I put in a couple of potentilla fructiosas last year (sorry I don't know
the cultivar, but the flowers are yellow). Do they require pruning in the
spring? I wouldn't need to for size, but was wondering if it's best for
neatness or if there will be winterkill.
