I'll bite....I have an area that is the border between my yard an my
neighbor's yard which is in full shade and dry. I originally planted
arbor vitae along the border between the yards where is it sunny (my
perennial bed is in front of the arbor vitaes) and viburnum
trilobum-American Cranberry in the shaded areas. Originally the
viburnums got morning sun, but then my neighbor erected a 6 foot stockade
fence which blocks athe morning sun and a pine tree, maple tree and apple
tree block the sun the rest of the day. Is there any thing I could use
as a hedge as an extention to the arbor vitae hedge. It doesn't have to
be evergreen and actually because of the fence I don't really need it
now. BUT the winter winds are making the fence lean and I suspect is is
only a matter of time before the fence comes down. I was thinking of
yews-hickii- or clethra (I know they need moisture- I will water)
Any other suggestions?
I anm in zone 5.
Thanks,
Denise
