RE: Schizophragma hydranganoides 'Moonlight'

Susan,
My only experience with the aforementioned plant was not happy. I bought
mine as a substitute for the climbing Hydrangea and was told it was a much
better plant and easier to grow. Mine died a slow lingering death over
about 2 years and I haven't had the courage to try it again. As to the
trellis, that part should be easy. I have made one for a rambling rose to
bridge it into an apple tree. I used a section of stiff wire (like pig
wire) that was used for tomato cages. I tied the tips of the rose canes
with jute and tied the other end to the wire trellis and as soon as the
canes are long enough, I will tie the ends to the tree limbs. If this is as
clear as mud, stop by some day on your way home from work and take a look.

I recall reading an article, I think in Fine Gardening, where the author
(Marietta O'Byrne), extoling this plant's virtues, explained how she
"trellised" this plant until it reached the host and became established. I
cannot find the article anywhere and wondered if anyone has experience with
this plant or can recall what the article said.
