Re: Roses

You're welcome. I'm sure a Rugosa will do well for you....and there are
several to choose from and that I'd like to have if I only had a place with
*some* sun for them. No, haven't tried any of the David Austins yet, but I
have read comments that some are better performers than others. Some of
them look so scrumptious...sigh...I love roses, but have only a spot or two
where they get enough sun to do anything but be foliage plants :-( and
those spots are pretty crammed already.

Mark Whitelaw, who has the rose topic on the Suite, gardens in Texas -
which is even hotter than where you are. He's been growing roses for 40
years and is a really nice guy. I just did a quick check of his articles
and discussions threads and didn't specifically see David Austins
mentioned, but I know he'd be able to advise you if no one on this list
can. The URL to his front page is:
http://suite101.com/topics/page.cfm/513 and you can access his email
address from there. Unfortunately, for security reasons, you gotta be a
member to post on the discussions - but that's free if you choose to do it.
You can read them, tho' and you may pick up something of use from
them....there are a *lot* of messages!
