Re: Monster Wisteria


Jean,

I would be concerned.   My parents lost some very large pines due to
wisteria.  It, like wild grape, will start to shade out the canopy...plus,
when a big tree is full of a huge vine and there's a bad windstorm, they
can get blown over....I've had this happen to some very large trees in the
woods that were engulfed by wild grape, which is on a par with wisteria as
far as size and vigor are concerned.

My suggestion would be to cut it back and move it to a trellis or some
other very sturdy support where you can keep it in bounds.
