Hi Nancy....
The seeds have no dormancy, but they have a very hard seed coat that
prevents germination until it breaks down. Here is my technique for
germination ....
Take a hack saw blade and carefully cut into one side of the seed until you
get to a lighter color. Flip the seed over and repeat. Place the seed in a
cup of water overnight. The next day you should find that the water has
softened the seed coat and you can peal it away, revealing actual seed.
At this point you can plant the seed, about 1/4 inch deep, or place on a
damp paper towel in a sealed container and watch it germinate.
If you grow in a container, make sure it is deep, but narrow. I used a 1/2
gallon cardboard milk container, and it was ready to carefully transplant in
the fall.

Would any one know the germination requirements for Gymnocladus dioica?
Have seeds, need to plant. Thanks.
