When you mention Malus and Ginkgo, I get very different ideas of height and
growth speed.  When you talk Maple and Birch, heights and shapes are at
odds.  So I wondered,  any  general ultimate height or shape you're looking
for?  I like the idea that you are interested in diversity, not just the
same old you see on streets.  You mentioned purple leaves.  Cercis
canadensis 'Forest Pansy' has lovely purple leaves and seems to take full
sun well here in Zone 5.  Is Milwaukee Zone 4?
