Good morning Don,

Thanks for taking the trouble. The leaf was gathered in Spain, by a non-botanist and without any additional information other than it is from a tree. Acer seems to be a likely guess. My first thought was Acer monspessulanum (a garden form ?). However, googling this name, nothing turned up that could resemble to the leaf on the photo.
