What does the bark look like? Smooth or deep fissures and rough?
Opposite or alternate leaves? I am thinking persimmon(male or female)
because the pawpaw leaves drop in August not now. The pawpaw has very
smooth grey bark and the leaves and stems smell good. The bark on the
persimmon is very dark now. I think the light of the leaves(color) make
the bark on certain trees appear darker. The yellow maples look like
the bark is black now. Such great contrast if you are a leaf peeper.
