Re: Wanting winter interest plants

Some nice ones (some mentioned before):

Acer pensylvanicum 'Erythrocladum'
Acer rufinerve 'Winter Gold'
Cornus sericea 'Midwinter beauty'
Fagus sylvatica 'Tortuosa' (also Contorta etc.)
Fagus sylvatica 'Pendula' (also Miltonensis, etc.)
Stewartia (several)
Betula albo-sinensis
Salix m. Golden Curls (also Scarlet Curls)
Robinia psuedoacacia 'Tortuosa'
Rhododendron 'Thunderhead' (very dark read in winter)
Pinus sylvestris 'Aurea'
Pinus mugo 'Wintergold'
Ulmus glabra 'Camperdowni'
Ilex x Sparkleberry and others deciduous hollies
Acer palmatum Sangu Kaku
Platanus occidentalis
Lindera angustifolia
ghost brambles

subtle but nice-
    Cornus controversa and alternifolia
    Vaccinium corumbosum
Magnolia stellata (for the buds and bark)

All hardy in Z5 (some people have trouble with Sangu Kaku - I like
Erythrocladum better if you can find it and it's very hardy.)
