evergreen for med sun/dry clay

I am looking for everygreen shrubs to hide part of a fence line.  They will
be planted at the top of a slope. The soil is clay, the zone is 6, with
high summer temp/humidity and little snow cover.  While the shrubs will be
sheltered from  prevailing winter wind, the light exposure is awkward.
Summer sun is 11am-3pm with more sun in winter.  Prefered mature height is
5-6 ft.
