Re: Flowering Shrubs -Reply

I have two pygmy Crimson Berberis (barberries!) and they have remained at
about 1 foot tall. Again they are in full sun. THe Virginia Sweetspire
does sucker, but no worse that the Clethra. And VERY nice red fall
color. I have mine in a bed iwth some roses, spirea, steppandra and an
oak leaf hydrangea. The itea and hydrangea have very nice red fall
color while the stepandra has orange fall color. And my roses are still
in bloom-red single (red meideland) and blush pink double (Stanwell
Perpetual). Still looks very nice! The clethra do leaf out very late.
Mine turn a nice yellow in the fall although this fall the color is not
as pronounced as it has been in other years.

Another shade possiblilty is Ilex or holly.
