Re: Rose of Sharon


I live 100km s. of montreal and we usually don't get temps much below -10F
or -15F, however , several years back we had two nights in a row w/ -30F
and no snow cover.(a fifty year cold snap fluke).  Anyway, all 5 of my
rose of sharons came
through w/ flying colours and NO dieback at all.  Unfortunately, cold
alone is is not a determining factor for hardiness. T%hese same 5 shrubs
have been in my garden for 9 years yet last year w/ a much warmer than
normal winter, I had 2 die on me.  The other 3 survived w/ no dieback at
all.  They are all planted in the same bed just feet from each other. Go
figure.
